GENERAL
Position Overview
Under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), the COTA delivers skilled occupational therapy interventions to swing bed (acute/sub-acute) patients and hospital inpatients. Focuses on helping patients regain or compensation for lost motor, cognitive, and sensory skills so that they can safely transition to home or to a lower level of care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistance associate degree program.
Experience
Minimum of six to twelve months of clinical experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, or hospital swing-bed setting preferred.
Knowledge Of
Able to communicate effective in English, both verbally and in writing; strong written and verbal skills; additional languages preferred
Licenses / Certifications / Registries
Licensed as an Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant by the State of Texas; certification from the National Board for Certifying Occupational Therapy preferred; BLS
