GENERAL
Position Overview
| Scrub Tech-Demonstrates personal care for all patients. Communicates effectively with all supervisors, physicians, co-workers and patients. Maintains department supplies. Demonstrates knowledge of Surgical procedures and OR set-ups. Competencies are met and documented. Sterile Processing Tech-Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection prevention and control practices. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the hospital. Able to accept new ideas and learn position duties. The individual in this position also serves as back up to the department Registrar/Scheduler/Preauth. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience
Minimum of one year of experience as a Sterile Processing Tech preferred; previous experience as a Surgical Scrub Tech preferred.
Knowledge Of
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Applications is a must; thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department; knowledgeable of cleaning and sterilization procedures and techniques; able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Licensure/Certification
Current CPR or BLS
