GENERAL
Position Overview
Responsible for direction and coordination of the staff in the Clinical Laboratory. Activities included are performance of chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests performed in the Clinical Laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Ensures that services are of the best quality, are cost contained and are carried out in an expeditious manner. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Baccalaureate degree in the clinical laboratory sciences or a related science curriculum from an accredited college or univeristy
Experience
Greater than three (3) years as a laboratory manager or six (6) years as a lab supervisor or related experience in supervisory/management methodologies.
Certification
Must be credentialed as a medical technologist and national certification from any of the following: ASCP, HEW, AMT, ISCLT, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and Excel; able to communicate effectively in English; both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
Personality / Interpersonal Skills
Appreciation of and desire to be part of a health care team dedicated to providing patients with optimal care.
